Shells no.3
The black burnt bowls are made of a red oak felled due to disease in the Botanical Garden of the University of Warsaw in early 2021. It was mentioned by Jan Trzebiński in his 1919 guide to the OBUW 'Along the Agricola we will encounter (...)a magnificent specimen of red oak (...)'. In Shells vessels' realisation, the described oak recurs as a memory of something magnificent that has passed away, while its remnants remind us of the glory days. Like the hull of great sailing ships tossed away after a storm. Objects remind us of the inevitable end, even of what is beautiful and monumental.
